Offin ("the App") is a personal finance tracker built around a simple idea: your financial data is yours, and it should never leave your device. We do not run servers that hold your data, we do not have accounts, and we do not collect, sell, or share your information. This policy explains exactly how that works.
1. The short version
Offin runs entirely on your iPhone. We do not collect any personal data, we have no analytics or tracking, no ads, and no third-party data sharing. Your transactions, accounts, and the statements you import stay on your device (and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud account). We — the Developer — never see them.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information. Offin has no user accounts, no login, and no backend server that receives your data. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, device identifiers for tracking, or your financial data.
The only time you contact us is if you email our support address — in which case we receive whatever you choose to put in that email, and we use it solely to respond to you.
3. Information you provide, and where it is stored
To do its job, Offin stores the information you put into it. This includes:
- Transactions you log manually, by voice, or that are imported from files;
- Accounts you create (such as a nickname, type, and last four digits);
- Budgets, categories, and settings you configure;
- Bank or card statements (PDF or CSV) you choose to import.
All of this is stored locally on your device in the App's private storage. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
4. iCloud backup (optional)
Offin offers an optional backup feature. If you enable it, your data is stored in your own personal iCloud account under your Apple account. That storage is provided by Apple, not by us, and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and your iCloud storage limits. We do not have access to your iCloud account or its contents. Backup is off unless you turn it on.
5. Device permissions
Offin only requests permissions needed for features you use, and processes them on-device:
- Microphone & speech: used only when you log a transaction by voice. Transcription and parsing happen on your device and are not sent to our servers.
- Files: used only to read a statement you explicitly pick to import. The file is processed on-device.
- Face ID / Touch ID: used, if you enable app lock, to unlock the App. Biometric data is handled by iOS and never exposed to us.
6. Apple Pay / Shortcuts
If you set up the optional Offin Shortcut, transaction details from your Apple Pay purchases are passed into the App by Apple's Shortcuts feature and stored locally, just like any other transaction. This data is not sent to us.
7. Purchases
Offin is a one-time in-app purchase after a free trial. Purchases and any refunds are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment-card details. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
8. Analytics, tracking, and advertising
Offin contains no analytics SDKs, no tracking, and no advertising. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not use third-party trackers. There is no data for us to sell or share, and we never sell your data.
9. Children's privacy
Offin is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not collect personal data at all, no such information is gathered through normal use.
10. Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you control it. You can delete individual transactions, accounts, or all data from within the App. Deleting the App removes its locally stored data from your device. If you enabled iCloud backup, you can remove that data through your device's iCloud storage settings. We retain nothing on our end because we never receive your data.
11. Security
Your data benefits from your device's built-in protections, and you can add an optional Face ID / Touch ID lock within the App. Keeping your device, passcode, and Apple account credentials secure is an important part of protecting your data.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a company holds about you. Since we do not collect or hold your personal data, these requests are satisfied directly on your device, where you can view, edit, and delete everything. 13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date on this page and, where appropriate, surfaced in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
